Artist's Comments

This is my victorian Ball Gown.
I already finished it half a year ago, but I didn't have good pictures so far.

It is made from not very authentic black polyester satin, but nevertheless it is a very good fabric and it really doesn't look like fancy dress.

The skirt has a black linen foundation on which I put the pleated parts at first, and then the drapery which is not an extra part of the dress like on my other victorian gowns. The pleats are made entirely by myself, it took about four days to do that, but it was worth it, I think ;)
The bodice is made from a pattern I found in a book by Jean Hunnisett.

The entire gown is decorated with tons of black paillettes and handmade black satin roses on the front drapery and the bodice.

gorgeous work. you deserve a lot of comments, which, I am sure you get whenever you wear one of your dresses out in public.

very very nice work. You are the Queen of Sateen! (ok, actually polyester, but that does not sound so regal!)

[link] You really need to come to it and wear this. I bet you would win the costume contest, hands down.

Seriously, it's a lovely piece and you very obviously worked hard and made something beautiful.

Just beautiful, as said before, a victorian hearthrob is soooo true! Lots of hard work, btw stop saying how lazy you are! That is untrue! You couldn't be lazy to create such an intricately made ballgown! Gorgeous!

Pegs
