I changed the picture to a (hopefully) better one , I took some time today to make a few pictures and mess around with photoshop
I started to work on this gown after christmas 2007, originally I wanted to finish it during the holidays between christmas and the new year.
Yesterday I decided to finish the gown because there are too many still not finished dresses lying around.
This one is not intended to be historically accurate. I used a pattern from Simplicity which I got quite cheap from a fellow seamstress. Normally I don't like commercial patterns, I especially have problems with the american ones ... but my shape is to blame, I don't have hips (well, not very big ones ) , but the american patterns have really big ones *hmmpf*
I used a few facric remnants to make that gown, the main skirt is made of satin (polyester, but not that shiny, thin stuff that even looks like plastic if you're miles away from it .. ) , the bodice, skirt front and gauntlets are made from some kind of jaquard with a very big and modern design of flowers (the rest of that fabric was used for my regency-like frock coat, but this one is not finished so far). The undersleeves are cotton, as well as the bodice lining, the skirt is lined with ordinary acetate lining.
Originally I wnated to make a gown that is a little less elaborate than my other stuff and easier to wear, but I couldn't resist stitching glass beads on it *sigh* and I can hardly move my arms because of the low neck line and the gautlets that are tied to the bodice ... But I guess that gown will be perfect for concerts and other events where a hoop skirt or else will need too much space
Sorry that the picture is that crappy, I hope one day a photographer will make good pictures of me wering that gown, I alreday have some ideas (what do you think about a little "Ever after"-Style, but more dark-romantic? )
