Striped Summer-gown

Description

Finally I got pictures of this gown I made some longer ago.

It was not really a commission because I made the skirts just for fun and lost interest in finishig the gown so the skirts were put away ...

Then a lady who plays in a musical group (the yonly do it as a hobby) asked me, after I made a chemise for her if I had any gowns that I would sell.

I had, and so I gave her the grey and black bustle gown that I only wore once for a few pictures and offered her those skirts as well.
And she asked me if I could make her a matching bodice ... and that's the result :)

I'm quite pleased. I would never have worn that gown myself, too bright ;) but it suits her really good, don't you think?

The gown is made of a white and grey striped linen imitation because I didn't take care of being super-authentic, neverthelsess the fabric is lovely for it.
It's just the perfect victorian summer gown with the shorter sleeves and all that ruffles ...

All of your creations are just lovely. I comment on this one specifically because I can't for the life of me find a good tutorial for all the skirt gathers and ruffles. Do you have any pointers? Where did you learn how to do this? I've done a bit of experimenting on my own, but I can never get it quite right (and I'm scared of wasting more fabric in trial-and-error).
