Black Velvet Corset by Stahlrose Black Velvet Corset by Stahlrose
Just finished ... the last piece for my clothes for Wave Gotik Treffen.
It's a corset made from black embossed velvet and trimmed with a special braid that allows fake lacings. I've set this one over the side panels (my corset has 5 panels per side), used a black satin ribbon for the lacing and attached silver aiglets to the ends of the ribbons.

I used a 34cm long busk - the longest one I've ever used for one of the corsets I've made for myself, but I have to say that it is the most comfortable corset I have.
I used 14 steel bones inside - spring steels and flat steels.

Th corset should go over a hoop skirt with a satin and lace overskirt and a "victorian" blouse (not made after a historical pattern ;) it doesn't need to be historical) and if it's getting too cold I've made a dark violet frock coat as well.
I will surely have pictures from the complete gown after the WGT :)

Fabric is awesome! But I'm totally into the design - it looks simple at first but all those details make it stylish.

Where on earth would you get the boning for this piece? I've always wanted to create a corset and can never find the boning or a pattern. I have no clue how to make it! Any help would be great.

Well, the best commercial pattern I know is the LM 100 package from Laughing Moon, it includes two corset patterns and a set of victorian underwear ;) just have a look for it.

About the boning .. well, I have a few internet shops where I can get my supplies but they won't be of any help for you, I'm from Germany :D

Perhaps this guy can help you: iconwaistedspace: or you ask here: :iconcorsetcrafters:

Me want it! Me want it! ;)
The pattern is delicious. Really gothic, and would fit any black skirt. I'm sure you had pleasure wearing it. ^^
I think that it might be quite comfortable with all that work you've putted into it. There's nothing more pleasurable, than looking at your work and smiling at your good work. :D
Why should they hide their corsets in old time? I think they're worth to show, even though I haven't got one, but I think they're doing a great job as accessories. And you're getting thinner :P
Well, I think it's pretty. I will add it to favourites, but it'll be when I'm accessing another computer, because on this one, DeviantArt is just stupid.. xD
Very very pretty ^^
